Vacation Tips

vacation tip

In the spirit of summer and vacation trips or getaways, I decided to change my monthly routine up a bit and make vacations the focus of this month’s blog topic. Summer’s coming, the children are out of school, and a lot of people are ready for fun in the sun and in the waters. In honor of the approaching summer, here are few tips and pointers on how to stay safe and make the most out of your summer vacations this year.

  1. Apply sunscreen to your body if you plan on being out in the sun for most of the day and or for more than thirty minutes. There is such a thing as skin disease, and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  2. Take more than a three-day vacation. Make plans to be on vacation between five and ten days. You deserve some relaxation time, and time to enjoy that trip you’ve been planning for months.
  3. Head to an underrated vacation destination. Places like Florida, Disney World, and California are crowded with people during the summer months. If you want to enjoy your vacation instead of standing in long lines and being in an overpopulated place during your vacation, opt for less crowed places to travel to during the summer such as national parks or Canada.
  4. Don’t freak out if unexpected or stressful things happen while you’re on vacation. You may miss a bus or run out of money, and there’s no ATM’s around. Catch the next bus, and explore the next town (s) over until you find an ATM. Relax, you’re on vacation.
  5. Wake up early in the morning to take advantage of the less crowded attractions. Most vacationers don’t wake up until late or mid-morning. Use the time to take pictures, interact with locals, and visit places on your to-see list.
  6. Travel with extra cash. You may run out of money or lose your wallet. Stash extra money in your socks, your backpack, or other easy-to-reach places.
  7. Splurge a bit. You’re on vacation. I’m as cheap as any frugal person is, but while on vacation I tend to splurge a bit. I treat myself to good food, well-deserved shopping trips, and a stay at a nice hotel.

Happy Summer!
